Job summary

State of Washington's DSHS Lake Burien facility is seeking a Custodian 1 to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents. You will perform cleaning, sanitizing, and routine maintenance tasks across multiple areas, ensuring supplies and equipment are properly managed.

The role includes a Monday–Friday schedule with day hours and opportunity to receive premium pay for on-site work, plus potential ORCA transportation benefits.

Qualifications

• A valid state driver's license is required.
• Ability to read, write, understand, and follow written and oral instructions.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Cleans various buildings, offices, rooms, institutional and non-institutional facilities.
• Cleans and sanitizes showers, restrooms, toilet facilities; keeps them properly supplied with toilet paper, paper towels, soap, and other items.
• Sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes and polishes floors, walls and woodwork; dusts furniture and equipment; empties wastebaskets.
• Polishes furniture and metal fixtures; washes windows; vacuums rugs, curtains and furniture.
• Empties waste baskets, trash, and recycling containers.
• Sets up and takes down equipment and furnishings.
• Maintains inventory of equipment and products.
• Performs minor maintenance and repair work, such as unskilled painting, cleaning furnace flues, oiling furnace motors, sharpening tools and replacing faucet washers or toilet tank floats.
