Job summary

First Student in Huntsville, AL is hiring a Diesel Technician to maintain and repair school buses, ensuring safety and reliability for student transportation. You’ll work a Monday–Friday day shift with pay based on experience and a path toward career advancement.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of diesel or automotive maintenance/repair experience or equivalent technical education.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• CDL Class B or ability to obtain within 60 days; company-paid training.
• Possession of a mechanic’s tool set to complete duties.
• Willingness to participate in ASE certification (training, testing, bonuses).
• Strong computer skills.
• Position is subject to DOT drug testing per safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair school buses to ensure safety and reliability.
• Diagnose and perform all maintenance including brakes, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, and transmissions.
• Perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections, complete work orders.
• Assist with mobile emergency repair services when needed.
