Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Cytotechnology; CAHEA-accredited program.
• 2 years' experience preferred; student training accepted.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
• Prepares and examines non-gynecologic and gynecologic slides for cellular evidence of disease and renders an interpretation in cytopathology terminology.
• Recognizes deviation from expected results and marks areas for cytopathologist review.
• Assists with Fine Needle Aspiration Biopsy and other procedures; communicates requirements for specimen submission.
• Utilizes computer equipment to record and transmit laboratory data.
• Participates in Quality Control and proficiency testing programs to maintain certification.
• Signs out negative gynecological smears.
• Performs other duties as assigned by lead, supervisor, or manager.
