Job summary

Freedom Behavioral Hospital of DeQuincy is seeking a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) or Mental Health Technician (MHT) to support the nursing staff and provide direct patient care to individuals in a psychiatric inpatient setting.

The role focuses on assisting with activities of daily living, maintaining a safe environment, and relaying patient observations to licensed nurses. Strong English communication and the ability to handle crisis situations are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma preferred; psychiatric-related coursework is a plus.
• One year experience with patients in inpatient hospital settings preferred.
• Ability to read, write and speak English; mental alertness and quick reaction in crisis.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day custodial care and activities of daily living.
• Provide meals, answer phones, and supervise patients during staff breaks.
• Communicate patient observations to licensed nursing staff.
