Job summary

Roof Above in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Basic Services Specialist to assist neighbors experiencing homelessness at the Day Services Center. You will work with volunteers to provide lunches, laundry, showers, mail distribution, and guide guests to services, while greeting them at the door and directing them to needed areas.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with a bachelor’s degree preferred and at least one year of related experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred with at least one year of relatable experience.
• Experience with homeless populations and shelter work is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to community and volunteer groups during activities and events.
• Assist with the management of the lunch line.
• Receive donations and enter services into HMIS.
• Intervene using de-escalation skills when necessary.
• Report concerns to supervisor and participate in training.
