What You’ll Do

As a Community Day Support Specialist, you’ll provide person-centered support in both community and program settings while encouraging independence, social engagement, and personal achievement.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized support based on each person’s Individual Support Plan (ISP)
• Assist individuals in developing daily living, communication, and social skills
• Lead and participate in community outings, recreational activities, and volunteer opportunities
• Encourage independence, self-confidence, and informed decision-making
• Assist with personal care and mobility when needed
• Prepare meals and support healthy daily routines
• Administer medications following agency policies
• Maintain accurate electronic documentation and daily service records
• Ensure a safe, respectful, and supportive environment at all times
• Build positive relationships with individuals, families, coworkers, and community partners

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (preferred)
• One year of experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities
• Active Virginia CNA, NA, or PCA certification (preferred)
