Job summary

Arc of Greater New Haven, Inc. seeks a Day Program Specialist/Direct Support Professional in Hamden, CT. This part-time role offers weekday schedules (Mon–Fri) with shifts from 8:45am to 2:45pm or similar, and features a focus on helping adults with IDD learn, connect, and participate in community activities.

You’ll work in a supportive team, assist with daily routines, document progress, and contribute to a safe, respectful environment where every participant can grow.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Valid Connecticut driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Willingness to obtain CPR, First Aid, AED, and Medication Administration certifications.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Comfortable using computers and basic software.
• Patient, compassionate, and dependable.

Responsibilities

• Assist adults with IDD in daily routines, skill-building, and community outings.
• Support independence with meals, personal care, and mobility.
• Document progress using agency systems.
• Transport participants in agency vehicles when needed.
• Maintain safety protocols and respond calmly in various situations.

Hamden, CT | Part-Time | Monday–Friday, Several Shifts Available: 930a- 245p, 900a-245p, or 845a-230p

• Supporting independence with daily routines like meals, personal care, and mobility, always with dignity and respect
• Leading engaging activities built around each person's individual program plan
• Keeping everyone safe, including driving participants in agency vehicles and responding calmly when situations arise
• Documenting progress using our agency systems
