Job summary

Walnut Street Center is seeking qualified Direct Support Professionals to join our Day Program in Bedford, MA, full-time, to support adults with intellectual disabilities in engaging within the community.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, transport, and documentation of progress; prior human services experience is preferred but not required. Training is provided; schedule is Mon-Fri 8am-4pm.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to drive.
• Ability to pass a driving and background check.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to complete training both online and in person.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (feeding, dressing, toileting, personal care).
• Provide support to access community activities.
• Assist with maintaining the environment.
• Contribute to development and implementation of Individual Service Plan goals.
• Provide therapeutic support and assist with Behavior Support Plans as needed.
• Transport individuals.
• Medication Administration.

Who we are looking for:
Seeking qualified Direct Support Professionals to work full-time directly with adults with intellectual disabilities in our Day Program in Bedford, MA.

The Job Responsibilities:

• Assisting individuals with Activities of Daily Living such as feeding, dressing, toileting and other aspects of personal care, and nutritional needs
• Providing individuals with supports to ensure access to community activities
• Assisting with maintenance of environment
• Participating in the development, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of Individual Service Plan or Day Habilitation Plan goals which focus on building skills and increasing independence
• Providing therapeutic support and assisting in the implementation of Behavior Support Plans, if appropriate
• Transporting individuals
• Medication Administration

Job Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to drive
• Ability to pass a driving and background check
• Ability to communicate effectively in English
• Ability to complete training both online and in person

Preferred:

• Previous human services or long-term care experience strongly preferred
• CNA/HHA/Community Support Worker experience preferred
• Associates or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
