Community Support Services of Missouri in Joplin, MO is seeking a Day Program Direct Support Professional to provide high-quality, person-centered support to individuals with developmental and/or physical disabilities. You will assist with daily living activities, transportation, meal preparation and health-related tasks as part of an habilitation team.

You will implement ISP/BSP plans, maintain documentation, and communicate respectfully with individuals, families, and supervisors.

Position Summary

Direct Support Professionals at Community Support Services provide high quality, person centered, hands on support to individuals with a variety of developmental and/or physical disabilities. Hands-on support includes assistance in all activities of daily living as identified by an individual’s habilitation team. These supports may include, but are not limited to, daily cleaning responsibilities, meal preparation, maintenance and administration of medications, transportation, assistance with personal hygiene and companionship.

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Confidence in interaction with individuals of all ages and with a variety of disabilities.

Required Education

HS Diploma or Equivalent

Qualifications

• A valid driver’s license and good driving record, as well as proof of current auto insurance is required.
• Must have dependable transportation with functioning heat and air conditioning systems and fully functioning seat belts for safety.
• Must pass all required federal, state and agency required background checks.
• Obtain and maintain all required training, including but not limited to, CPI Association requirements for physical intervention, CPR, First Aid Training, Medication Administration, ABA principals and implementation techniques in accordance with CSS policy.
• Prefer one (1) year experience working with individuals with disabilities.

Physical Requirements

• All employees should possess the ability to:
• Lift 50 pounds or more on a repeated basis as required.
• Potentially bend, stoop, kneel, and twist repeatedly.
• Operate any required equipment with good dexterity.
• Traverse changing terrain.
• Periodically alternate between standing, sitting, and walking.
