Job summary

ACLD is seeking a Day Habilitation Specialist - PWW East Islip to join our team in East Islip, NY. This regular full-time position focuses on supporting adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities in a day habilitation setting, helping them achieve personal goals and grow toward independence.

Responsibilities include providing structure and emotional support, assisting with personal hygiene, addressing behavioral challenges, and transporting participants to activities using agency

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent plus 2 years of MR/DD experience OR Associate's or Bachelor's Degree.
• Clean and valid NYS driver's license.
• Complete AMAP and SCIP trainings within 6 months of hire.
• The ability to assist with lifting and transferring an adult person.
• Must have flexibility to be reassigned to other programs and/or locations as needed.
• Prior experience as Caregiver, Care Assistant, Personal Assistant, Resident Assistant, Direct Care Worker, Nursing Assistant, Home Care Aide or Companion is a plus.
• Ability to understand and communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.

• Assist in resolving behavioral issues;
• Help individuals with personal hygiene;
• Transport individuals to and from volunteer and pre-vocational activities using Agency vehicles.
