Job summary

Sunrise Recreation and Park District is seeking a Day Care/Pre-School Teacher to implement age-appropriate curriculum at a designated site, supervise children, and maintain a safe, clean classroom and playground environment.

You will work under supervision from the Day Care Site Director and Head Teacher, with duties including activity planning, classroom setup, and documentation of student progress and attendance. This is a non-permanent position with variable hours and field trips as needed.

Qualifications

• At least six months of work experience in a licensed childcare center or comparable program.
• Twelfth grade or equivalent with 12 units in early childhood education or related field; or six units and ongoing enrollment until 12 units are completed.

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements age-appropriate curriculum, events and recreational activities at an assigned day care or pre-school site.
• Provides direct supervision to children in the classroom and on the playground; maintains positive student relations.
• Renders first aid when necessary and enforces safety procedures for playground equipment.
• Notifies supervisor of site maintenance issues and suggests solutions.
• Tracks arrival/departure times and monitors classroom supply levels.

Education

High school diploma + 12 units in early childhood education/recreation/elementary education

Completion of 12th grade with 12 units in related field OR 6 units completed and enrolled in 3 units/semester until 12 units
