Job summary

MERS Missouri Goodwill is seeking a Day Care Assistant Teacher to join our Springfield Daycare team. You will support our mission, Changing Lives Through the Power of Work, by assisting with lesson plans, routines, and child engagement.

The role emphasizes building a safe, inclusive classroom environment, following regulations, and collaborating with families. This is a part-time, hourly position with benefits for eligible hours.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years old with a High School Diploma or GED.
• 6 months of experience working as a supervised Assistant Teacher in a day care or school setting is required.
• Knowledge of the basic child needs and sensitivity to the capabilities, interests and problems of children in day care.

Responsibilities

• Helps develop and implement lesson plans.
• Follows State Regulations.
• Follows policies and procedures as outlined in employee and job manuals.
• Creates a positive and inviting environment for children.
• Assists with the development and measurement of individualized goals for children.
• Greets parents, asks appropriate questions, and gives appropriate information.
• Participates in children's play time indoors and outdoors.
• Keeps classrooms organized and on schedule.
• Completes Opening, Nap time and Closing Procedures daily.
• Other duties as assigned.
