Job summary

A nonprofit organization in San Francisco is seeking a dedicated individual to provide instruction and leadership to students. The ideal candidate will design lesson plans and contribute to programs aimed at youth development in a collaborative, strengths-based environment. Experience in teaching and working with diverse backgrounds is preferred, along with the ability to handle various educational needs. Qualifications

  • Experience in teaching and leading youth in academic or creative settings.
  • Experience working with diverse backgrounds and ages (TK‑7 preferred).
  • Experience researching resources or tools for students and families.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction to students from a strengths-based approach.
  • Design, plan, and implement lesson plans meeting academic standards.
  • Ensure implementation of behavior support plans.

Job description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide instruction to students, in collaboration with the assigned teaching team, from a strengths-based approach.
  • Design, plan, and implement lesson plans in and outside the classroom meeting program academic standards.
  • Design, plan, prepare, and actively participate in creative or active afternoon activities.
  • Ensure implementation of behavior support plans in and outside the classroom designed by Behavior and Academic Specialists and/or Education Leadership Advisement.
  • Assist with and participate in any programs part of the Summer Day Camp.
  • Integrate social-emotional learning throughout programming with advisement from Behavior & Academic Specialists and/or Education Leadership.
  • Report possible cases of child abuse, neglect, or endangerment to proper leadership.
  • Other related duties as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Currently studying education, child development, human services, or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience in teaching and leading youth in academic or creative settings.
  • Experience working with diverse backgrounds and ages (TK‑7 preferred) in an urban environment, and/or personal experience with SFUSD.
  • Experience researching resources or tools for students and families.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of teaching and leading youth in project‑based, experiential, or hands‑on learning.
  • Ability to effectively lead children through tasks in a positive manner.
  • Ability to lead and teach in a trauma‑informed manner.
  • Effective communication with parents/families.
  • Comfortable with enforcing program rules and policies.
  • Ability to handle emotionally charged situations.

  • Modern Office Equipment and Relevant Software
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (usually file boxes).
