Job summary

Ferris State University is seeking a University Center Student Manager (Student Position) to oversee the David L. Eisler Center during evenings and weekends in Big Rapids, MI. The role requires managing operations, assisting guests, and ensuring events run smoothly.

The candidate must be available for 5–10:15pm weekday shifts and weekend hours, with physical duties including lifting up to 50 lbs and setting up AV equipment. Two positions are open in the Student Services department.

Qualifications

• Available to work weekday nights (5–10:15pm) and weekend shifts.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs to shoulder level.
• Must be able to do other physical work including standing, lifting, stacking and moving equipment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out David L Eisler Center policies.
• Provide customer service in a professional manner and maintain a positive image.
• Assist guests with reservations.
• Ensure the Center is locked/unlocked for opening/closing.
• Ensure events are set up to guests' expectations.
• Enforce Center policies.
• Move and set up audiovisual equipment.
• Coordinate with staff to ensure events are properly set.
• Set up event spaces physically as needed.
• Vacuum, clean windows, and perform other cleaning as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Night Manager or Director.

Summary of Position

Under the supervision of Associate Dean of Student Life, the Student Manager is responsible for the general operation of the David L. Eisler Center during the evenings and on weekends. Evening shifts are generally from 5-10:15pm and weekends shifts are generally from 9:45am-3:00pm and 3:00pm-9/10:00pm

Position Requirements

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Carrying out David L Eisler Center policies
• Providing customer service in a professional matter and hold a positive image.
• Assist guests with making reservations.
• Ensure the David L. Eisler Center is locked and unlocked as appropriate for opening and closing the facility.
• Ensure that events are setup to guests expectations.
• Enforce and uphold David L. Eisler Center policies.
• Be able to move and set up audiovisual equipment.
• Work with fulltime and student staff to ensure events are properly set.
• Able to do manual set ups of event spaces.
• Responsible for vacuuming, window cleaning and other cleaning as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by the Night Manager or Director of the University Center.
