Job summary

Akkodis is seeking a Level 2 Data Center Technician to support our client’s Atlanta, GA data center. The role focuses on installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of server and network infrastructure in a high-availability environment.

You will work hands-on with server hardware, cabling, and basic Linux, following safety and security procedures. Strong problem-solving, documentation, and teamwork are essential, with on-site responsibilities and the possibility of on-call support.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a data center environment with server hardware and cabling.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting of server and network infrastructure.
  • Ability to follow SOPs and safety/security protocols.
  • Comfort with Linux command-line basics and documentation.
  • Willingness to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot server hardware and connectivity issues and perform corrective actions.
  • Install and replace server components and hardware as needed.
  • Coordinate return of defective parts to vendors per warranty/RMA.
  • Perform firmware upgrades and maintain systems at current versions.
  • Configure IPs, network settings, and default credentials on servers.
  • Support network admins with infrastructure tasks, including cable replacement.
  • Maintain accurate installation and maintenance documentation.
  • Follow data center safety, security, and procedures.

Akkodis is hiring for L2 data center technicians to support our client based in Atlanta, GA.

Location: Atlanta, GA (onsite)

Pay: $29-$35

Employment type: 1 year contract

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Level 2 Data Center Technician to support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of server and network infrastructure within a data center environment. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience working with server hardware, cabling, and basic Linux administration while adhering to established safety and security protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot server hardware and connectivity issues, identify root causes, and perform corrective actions.
  • Order, install, and replace server components and hardware as needed.
  • Coordinate the return of defective parts to vendors in accordance with warranty and RMA processes.
  • Perform server firmware upgrades and ensure systems are maintained at current supported versions.
  • Configure IP addresses, network settings, and default login credentials on servers.
  • Assist Network Administrators with server and infrastructure‑related tasks, including:
  • Replacing damaged or defective network and power cables.
  • Re‑routing cables between servers, switches, and network devices.
  • Replacing optical transceivers and related connectivity components.
  • Installing, upgrading, and replacing server hardware components.
  • Racking, stacking, and cabling servers and network equipment for remote configuration.
  • Responding to requests for hands‑on support involving servers and switches.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of installations, repairs, and infrastructure changes.
  • Follow all data center safety, security, and operational procedures.
  • Support data center operations to ensure maximum system availability and reliability.
Qualifications
  • 2–5 years of experience working in a data center environment.
  • Experience working with various cable types and connectors, including fiber optic and copper cabling.
  • Basic knowledge of Linux operating systems and command‑line utilities.
  • Understanding of data center safety, security, and access control procedures.
  • Experience troubleshooting server hardware and infrastructure issues.
  • Familiarity with server installation, maintenance, and hardware replacement procedures.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and follow standard operating procedures.
  • Strong problem‑solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift, rack, and install equipment in a data center environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting enterprise server and network infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with firmware upgrades and server provisioning processes.
  • Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP addressing and connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Experience working with remote hands support and vendor coordination.
  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Linux+, or equivalent are a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in data center environments, including standing, bending, and working within server racks for extended periods.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules or participate in on‑call support as needed.
