Job summary

Sprout, a global IT hardware retirement provider headquartered in Charlotte, NC, seeks a Technical Project Manager to own datacenter hardware projects across the full asset lifecycle. You will coordinate cross-functional teams, manage schedules, budgets, and risk, and translate complex technical details into clear stakeholder updates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in engineering, IT, business management, or related field.
• Several years of technical project management delivering datacenter or IT infrastructure hardware projects.
• Experience across the hardware lifecycle: buildout, configuration, operations handover, and decommissioning.
• Certifications are a plus — e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, or CSM; vendor certifications such as Cisco, Dell, or HPE are beneficial.
• Experience with ITAD, data sanitization standards (e.g., NIST 800-88), and compliance is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage datacenter buildout projects end to end — site readiness, rack and power layout, cabling, and network fabric against milestones.
• Coordinate facilities, engineering, and vendor teams to deliver hardware installation on schedule and to spec.
• Manage scope, dependencies, and site logistics across concurrent buildout efforts.
• Drive the build and configuration of compute, storage, and network infrastructure to specification.
• Manage burn-in, validation, and acceptance testing before production release.
• Ensure configurations, firmware, and standards are documented across deployments.
• Lead the transition of newly deployed infrastructure into steady-state operations.
• Ensure runbooks, monitoring, and documentation are in place before handover.
• Oversee data sanitization, asset tracking, and compliant resale, recycling, or destruction.
• Maintain regulatory and chain-of-custody compliance throughout the disposition process.
• Build and maintain integrated project schedules, budgets, risk registers, and status reporting across lifecycle phases.
• Coordinate vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders, holding each accountable to scope, timeline, and quality.
• Track hardware assets and maintain lifecycle records in CMDB / asset management system.
• Identify risks and dependencies early, drive resolution and escalations clearly when decisions or trade-offs are needed.
