Job description

Position Overview

The Data Center Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing the electrical and mechanical infrastructure of a newly established data center. This role ensures the reliable, efficient, and safe operation of all mission‑critical systems within a 24/7 environment. The manager will lead daily operations, implement preventative maintenance programs, coordinate with vendors, and ensure compliance with safety protocols and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and monitor all aspects of the data center’s critical physical infrastructure, including UPS systems, generators, electrical switchgear, power distribution, and HVAC systems (including DX CRAC units and chilled water systems).
  • Oversee fire suppression systems and ensure continuous monitoring of electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
  • Implement and maintain preventative maintenance programs for all electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Develop, update, and maintain documentation such as MOPs (Methods of Procedure), SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), and RCAs (Root Cause Analyses).
  • Monitor performance metrics (e.g., PUE) and deliver exceptional customer support for installations, modifications, and ongoing operations.
  • Partner with Site and Operations teams to develop, optimize, and document processes.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for equipment installation, maintenance, and upgrades.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and manage the facilities team, providing training, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Conduct capacity planning and disaster recovery planning to ensure business continuity.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide regular reports to management and stakeholders.
  • Manage the budget for the data center facility and control costs within established limits.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to power outages, equipment failures, and security breaches.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Certified Electrician with proven hands‑on expertise in managing mission‑critical electrical systems within a data center environment.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience across all relevant skill sets, including industrial HVAC technician experience (preferred).
  • Strong background in critical mechanical and HVAC systems for data centers.
  • Familiarity with chilled water HVAC systems and fire suppression systems.
  • Expertise in CT management and replacements.
  • Ability to develop and maintain technical documentation (MOPs, SOPs, RCAs).
  • Skilled in implementing preventative maintenance programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong customer service orientation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work hands‑on with electrical systems and interact directly with clients.
Education & Training
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electrical Technology, or related field (preferred).
