Job summary

TRC Talent Solutions partners with a leading power generation service provider to hire a Generator Service Technician in Nashville. This field role maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs standby power generation systems for commercial, industrial, healthcare, data center, and critical infrastructure customers.

You will diagnose, repair, perform preventive maintenance, document service activities, and support generator rebuilds while ensuring safety and client service excellence.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years experience servicing generators 8.5kW–3500kW.
• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and service manuals.
• Proficient in diagnostic tools and field service documentation.
• Strong safety awareness and customer communication.

TRC Talent Solutions is partnering with a leading power generation service provider to hire a Generator Service Technician. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing standby power generation systems that support commercial, industrial, healthcare, data center, and critical infrastructure customers.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain standby generators and fire pump driver systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, emergency repairs, and load bank testing.
• Troubleshoot diesel engines, electrical systems, controls, fuel systems, and cooling systems.
• Conduct equipment failure analysis and recommend corrective actions.
• Support generator rebuilds, modifications, and component replacements.
• Test and validate generator performance while documenting results and service activities.
• Maintain accurate service records, repair documentation, and customer communications.
• Manage service vehicle inventory, tools, and parts.
• Ensure work is completed safely and in accordance with company and customer requirements.
• Provide exceptional customer support and technical expertise in the field.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, technical certification, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience servicing generators ranging from 8.5kW to 3500kW.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, power generation systems, electrical controls, and circuitry.
• Experience performing preventative maintenance, diagnostics, emergency repairs, and equipment rebuilds.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and service documentation.
• Proficiency with diagnostic software, testing equipment, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and respond to emergency service situations.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to safely perform field service work, lift equipment, and work in varying environmental conditions.
