Job summary

ORBIS Inc. in Washington, DC is seeking a seasoned Database Administrator with 5+ years of experience to design, implement, and maintain complex databases (Oracle focus) across Windows and Linux/Unix. You will manage security, perform performance tuning, backup/recovery, and participate in accreditation reviews to meet IT security requirements.

A U.S. citizenship and active Top Secret clearance are required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience administering Databases/Database Entry, MS Access, Oracle, Microsoft Excel.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen with a Top Secret clearance.
• IAT-2 level certification (Security+, GIAC GSEC, or (ISC)2 SSCP) required.
• Experience designing, normalizing, developing, installing and implementing databases.
• Experience backup, recovery, performance tuning in hybrid Windows/Linux/Unix environments.
• Experience patching database management software.
• Experience SQL to create/store/retrieve/update data in relational databases.
• Experience with Oracle PL/SQL packages, procedures, functions, triggers.
• Knowledge of Software Lifecycle Management and Oracle DB features.

Responsibilities

• Design, normalize, develop, install, and implement databases including schemas and data import/export.
• Maintain, monitor, and performance tune databases; backup and recover in hybrid environments.
• Install, configure, patch database management software.
• Use SQL to manage relational databases and develop PL/SQL components.
• Communicate performance factors and coordinate with admins, customers, and management.
• Conduct Information Assurance accreditation reviews per STIG/SRG for databases and applications.
• Utilize helpdesk processes to diagnose and resolve database issues.

• Experience with designing, normalizing, developing, installing, and implementing databases to include schemas, tables, indexes, data import and export.
• Experience maintaining, monitoring, performance tuning, backing up, and recovering databases in a Hybrid Windows Linux or Unix environment.
• Experience installing, configuring, maintaining, and patching database management software.
• Experience in the use of Standard Query Language (SQL) to create, store, retrieve, and update data in relational databases.
• Experience developing Procedural Language SQL (PL/SQL) packages, procedures, functions, and triggers.
• Experience with the Software Lifecycle Management and knowledge of Oracle products and database features sufficient to communicate performance factors, author management plans, and collaborate with system administrators, customers, and Director-level management.
• Conduct periodic Information Assurance accreditation reviews and implement the applicable Security Technical Implementation Guide or Security Readiness Guide to databases, database servers and applications to meet security requirements.
• Experience in the use of helpdesk processes, tools and testing methods to diagnose and resolve problems to satisfy customer needs. Required Skills and Experiences: * Valid certification of an IAT-2 technical level with one of the following, Security+, or Global Information Assurance Certification's (GIAC) Security Essentials (GSEC), or (ISC)2 Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP)
• Minimum Experience: 5+ years administering Databases/Database Entry, MS Access, Oracle, Microsoft Excel
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• A top secret security clearance Desired: * Experience with MS Office products Advanced MS Excel preferred Degree Requirements: * Preferred: Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution in mathematics, computer science, one of the physical sciences, engineering or a closely-related scientific discipline is highly desired. Advanced degree(s) are preferred.
