Job Summary

The Database Security Engineer Lead is responsible for implementing and maintaining security systems that protect relational database systems, AWS cloud native databases, NoSQL, and big data platforms. The role involves working with security teams to provide guidance, perform incident response, and investigate database security issues.

This position is crucial for safeguarding the bank’s information assets.

Major Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, document, monitor, and implement database security solutions in accordance with policies and standards.
• Serve as a trusted partner to business, operations, development, risk, and compliance teams, providing SME guidance.
• Manage a database activity monitoring platform for security and compliance, including policy creation and analysis.
• Develop and maintain database security standards, guidelines, and procedures.
• Enhance existing controls and policies to prevent unauthorized data use or modification.
• Evaluate and coordinate the testing and implementation of new security controls.
• Identify vulnerabilities in security products and implement mitigation strategies.
• Respond to security incidents and assist in investigations.
• Perform root cause analysis of security violations and take appropriate actions.
• Lead technical projects within the area of responsibility.
• Collaborate with database custodians to understand security needs and implement best practices.
• Work with auditors to demonstrate compliance with security controls.
• Enhance monitoring systems to detect security violations.
• Stay informed on industry trends and security practices.
• Manage complex projects effectively, including planning and documentation.
• Assess business processes and software for security and reliability.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent experience
• Bachelor's in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, IT, or related fields; Master’s preferred
• 5-7+ years in cybersecurity, incident response, or related fields
• Experience in banking or finance preferred
• Knowledge of database security, monitoring, and protection tools
• Experience with platforms like Imperva Data Security and DRA
• Imperva Data Security Specialist (IDSS) certification preferred
• Strong understanding of databases and technologies
• Familiarity with AWS RDS and other cloud technologies
• Knowledge of cybersecurity tools, vulnerability detection, and mitigation
• Experience with regulated environments and compliance standards
• Proficiency with security tools such as DAM, SIEM, UEBA
• Knowledge of major databases (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL)
• Working knowledge of Linux, Unix, Windows security systems
• Excellent documentation and communication skills
• Understanding of regulatory requirements like GLBA, SOX, PCI
