Hybrid workforce:

Experity offers Team Members the opportunity to work remotely or in an office. While this position allows remote work, we require Team Members to live within a commutable distance from one of our locations to ensure you are available to come into the office as needed.

Job Summary:

The Database Manager will oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's databases. The Manager will work closely with other IT stakeholders to ensure the databases are secure, reliable, efficient, and resilient. The Database Manager will also manage a team of database administrators and ensure they meet their strategic goals and objectives. The Manager will constantly assess and implement new technologies and provide Information Technology with a long-term perspective on the relationship of database technology to the business opportunities facing Experity. It is extremely important to Experity that the production database systems offer the highest reliability and performance possible. The Database Manager is challenged to work with application development and IT operations to help achieve a state-of-the-art environment that meets current and future business objectives and Experity’s suite of applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the databases are secure, reliable, and efficient. Achieve 99.99 or higher in terms of availability
  • Manage a team of database administrators and ensure that they are meeting their goals and objectives. Ensure these goals and objectives are measured and reported on (at least) a bi-weekly basis.
  • Develop and implement database policies and procedures.
  • Monitor database performance and make recommendations for improvements. (Strategic alignment)
  • Work closely with other IT professionals to ensure that the databases are integrated with other systems.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans for the databases.
  • Ensure that the databases are compliant with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Provide technical support to end-users as needed.
  • Deploy, maintain, and manage all company database servers.
  • Configure and deploy measures to guarantee the security of the company’s data and monitor events for anomalies.
  • Contribute to the logical and infrastructure design of the databases and servers for optimal performance and capacity.
  • Design high availability and disaster recovery strategies and periodically conduct testing for the same. Ensure DB health by having strong monitoring practices, Standard operating procedures, clear roles and responsibilities and appropriate alerting mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with developers on the design and maintenance of database queries.
  • Design and maintain database structures for scalability according to best practices and standards.
  • Maintains and enforces policies and procedures designed to ensure the integrity of the enterprise database environments.
  • Keeps informed on new and emerging database and application development technologies.
  • Oversees day-to-day activities of team members and third-party contractors; addresses concerns and escalates to the SVP of IT as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Travel:

  • Ability to travel as needed.

Experience:

  • Seven years of experience in database management.
  • Experience managing a team of database administrators.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, up to the latest version.
  • Knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery options for SQL servers and other database management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of database design and implementation.
  • Experience with database security and compliance.
  • Experience with multiple database management systems.
  • Experience in implementing operational automation for repetitive tasks.

Preferred:

  • Extensive hands on experience with MS SQL Server an/or Postgres
  • Experience designing and implementing cloud based database solutions.
  • Experience working for a similarly sized SaaS based company.
  • Experience working for a healthcare or healthcare tech company is a strong plus.

  • Electronic Medical Records (EMR): Software that healthcare providers use to input patient data, such as medical history, diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and test results.
