Job summary

J T is seeking an experienced Database Engineer (Level 2) in Fort Meade, MD with an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph. The role focuses on database design, data flow modeling, and large-scale information retrieval across cloud and on-prem environments.

You will design relational and object-oriented schemas, develop custom parsing/loading tools, and balance trade-offs for data volumes, latency, retention, and security throughout the lifecycle from requirements to IOC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline plus 5 years of DB engineering on similar scope, OR 10 years of DB engineering without a degree.
• Experience in schema design, data modeling, storage/retrieval, and dataflow optimization.
• Proven capability developing database parsing and loading software, complex SQL queries, and automated data manipulation scripts.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy relational and Object-Oriented databases.
• Develop custom database parser tools, data ingestion scripts, and automated loading software.
• Evaluate architectural trade-offs for data volumes, distribution, queries, retention, and security.
• Translate operational requirements into optimized database schemas and data pipelines.
• Author and maintain ad-hoc queries, scripts, and master data files.
• Support data storage, ODBC connectivity, and cloud/on-prem deployments.
• Formulate requirements for database administration, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
