Job summary

The Finders in Phoenix is seeking a Database Engineer/Architect to design scalable database systems and drive data quality, governance, and performance improvements. This full-time hybrid role in the West Valley focuses on SQL Server, T-SQL, and cloud data services while supporting AI-enabled data initiatives.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years of hands-on experience in database engineering/administration, familiarity with non-relational options, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize scalable database systems to support the platform.
  • Implement data quality, lineage, governance and anomaly detection processes.
  • Ensure high availability, backup/disaster recovery, and performance tuning.
  • Collaborate with data engineers and AI initiatives to support analytics workloads.

Salary

140K-165K+ depending on experience

Background Profile:
  • Bachelor's Degree not required but preferred, especially in computer science or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, AWS Database Specialty, AWS Data Analytics Specialty) are a plus
  • 4+ years of hands-on database engineering/administration experience, with demonstrated depth not just tenure.
  • Experience with data quality practices and tooling --- validation, lineage, governance, and anomaly detection.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL; familiarity with MongoDB and/or other non-relational systems
  • Working knowledge of non-relational database paradigms --- document, key-value, wide-column, graph --- and a track record of knowing which fits which problem.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more of DynamoDB, MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra, or Neptune is a plus.
  • Familiarity with AWS data platform services across relational (RDS, Aurora), non-relational (DynamoDB, ElastiCache, Neptune), warehousing (Redshift), data lake (S3, Glue, Athena, Lake Formation), and pipeline tooling (Kinesis, Glue ETL, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated, hands-on use of AI tools in day-to-day technical work --- and ideally an understanding of the data infrastructure behind AI features (vector databases, RAG, embeddings).
  • Experience with data modeling, query optimization, indexing/partitioning, high availability, and backup/disaster recovery.
  • Familiarity with scripting (PowerShell, Python, or Bash) and monitoring/observability tooling
  • Prior lead or management experience is a meaningful bonus.
  • Must be open to working in hybrid schedule -- this is not a fully remote role.
  • Must have exemplary communication skills
  • Must be a US citizen or Green Card holder to be considered as no sponsorship available for role.
