Amtex Enterprises in Menands, NY is seeking a Database Developer skilled in PostgreSQL and Oracle to design, develop, and optimize cross-DB data solutions in a hybrid environment. The role covers migration of PL/SQL to PostgreSQL, performance tuning, API integration, data pipelines, and collaboration with application teams, QA, and DevOps.

This 12-month contract offers DOE compensation and requires face-to-face interview at client expense.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with PostgreSQL development and PL/pgSQL.
• Strong Oracle DB (11g/12c/19c) and PL/SQL skills.
• Experience migrating Oracle to PostgreSQL and performance tuning.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs, ETL, and data integration.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Oracle PL/SQL packages, procedures, and views.

• Tune queries, optimize execution plans, indexing, and partitioning.
• Develop and support RESTful APIs for data services.

Database Developer (PostgreSQL / Oracle)
Location: Menands, NY -- Hybrid Role.
Duration: 12 Months
Rate: DOE
The candidate is willing to attend F2F interview, client will take care of interview expenses.

Key Responsibilities:

Database Development:

Design, develop, and maintain robust Oracle PL/SQL packages, stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, and complex SQL queries, PostgreSQL database objects, including functions, procedures, triggers, and views using PL/pgSQL.

Database Migration & Conversion:

Analyze Oracle database objects, map dependencies, and assist in migrating Oracle PL/SQL code to PostgreSQL while ensuring functionality and performance.

Performance Tuning:

Troubleshoot slow-running SQL queries, optimize execution plans, indexing strategies, partitioning, and database performance across Oracle and PostgreSQL environments.

API Development & Integration (Preferred):

Design, develop, consume, and support RESTful APIs for seamless integration between databases and enterprise applications. Collaborate with application teams to expose database services through APIs.

Data Integration:

Build, maintain, and support ETL processes and data pipelines to ensure accurate and efficient data movement across systems.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Work closely with application developers, QA engineers, DevOps teams, architects, and business analysts to deliver secure, scalable, and high-quality database solutions.

Documentation & Deployment:

Prepare technical documentation, deployment scripts, release procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for database changes and production deployments.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Technical Skills:

• Solid experience in PostgreSQL development, including PL/pgSQL, database design, and query optimization.
• Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Database (11g/12c/19c) and advanced PL/SQL programming.
• Expertise in writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, packages, triggers, and views.
• Strong understanding of relational database concepts, data modeling, normalization, and indexing strategies.
• Experience analyzing execution plans using Oracle Explain Plan and PostgreSQL EXPLAIN/EXPLAIN ANALYZE to optimize database performance.
• Hands-on experience with RESTful APIs, including API development, integration, testing, and troubleshooting (preferred).
• Experience working with JSON/XML data formats and API-based data exchange.
• Experience building and supporting ETL processes and data migration activities.
• Proficiency in Unix/Linux shell scripting for database automation and operational tasks.
• Experience using version control tools such as Git
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience migrating Oracle databases to PostgreSQL.
• Knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, Python, .NET, or Node.js for API integration.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Knowledge of messaging technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Oracle and/or PostgreSQL certifications are a plus.
