Job description

Job Title: Database Architect II - Postgres

Clearance Required: Public Trust - US Citizenship necessary for Federal Client

Work Location: Remote, Arlington, VA

Alpha Omega is seeking a qualified Database Architect II - Postgres for a remote position on a Federal program in Arlington, Virginia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, create, and manage large-scale databases to store and organize vast digital information, with expertise in database technologies, data modeling, and information management. Collaborate with organizations to understand data requirements, ensuring efficient, secure, and high-performance database structures.
  • Design, implement, and manage PostgreSQL database systems and infrastructure.
  • Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and post-mortems.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance on complex Database Administration challenges.
  • Manage and oversee other database administrators.
  • Work across data analyst and database administrator domains.
  • Support users by resolving application database issues.
  • Guide junior Database Administrators.
  • Coordinate with Program Managers to ensure problem resolution and customer satisfaction.
  • Support production databases in terms of availability, reliability, and integrity.
  • Work with application developers on database design, optimization, and deployment.
  • Create and update database objects and structures as needed.
  • Coordinate database deployment tasks across environments.
  • Advise application developers on database features, query building, and problem resolution.
  • Implement backup and recovery strategies for databases.
  • Perform database recovery when necessary.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
  • US Citizenship, with at least 5 years of experience in PostgreSQL architecture.
  • Advanced knowledge of networking, object-oriented tech, data warehousing, and relational engines like Oracle and SQL Server.
  • Strong analytical, planning, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Experience with DevOps tools such as GitHub.
  • Knowledge of React.js, including patterns, state management, and data sharing.
  • Experience with Azure cloud monitoring and operational tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in an Agile environment.

Salary Range: $88,501 - $110,000 (based on experience and qualifications)
