Job description

Overview

We are seeking a Database Analyst for a contract to permanent role with our client, a leading insurance organization in Columbia, SC. You will work on a team that is spearheading an initiative to modernize the organization’s systems, replacing all systems over the course of two years.

This is a hybrid role in Columbia, SC. Must be able to work onsite initially and then approximately 3 days a week onsite in the Columbia, SC office after training.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day operations – handle action requests from customers when assigned, install patches and upgrades, route new customer requests to the team as part of the hot-seat process, participate in regular meetings and workgroups with the DBAs and data analytics staff.
• Participate in the modernization effort including implementing an IBM P10 data warehouse, moving from AIX servers to Linux, implementing Python to replace SAS, implementing new security measures and SSO, and implementing DevOps/DevSecOps.

Key Skills

• Knowledge of applicable data management programming languages and tools; ability to identify where existing data security policies require changes or development.
• Knowledge of methodologies and technologies that depict the flow of data within and between technology systems and business functions/operations.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to configure database parameters and diagnose and resolve performance problems.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration or related field, or an additional 4 years of job-related experience.
• 5 years of IT experience including varied database administration experience.
• DB2 database management; strong knowledge of RHEL operating systems; bash/ksh.
• Nice to Have: IIAS, DB2 UDB architecture; implementing security standards (e.g., STIG); User ID management strategies.
