Job summary

Astyra Corporation in Richmond, VA is seeking a Database Administrator II to assist with migrating existing databases to a new hosted platform. This is an onsite, 6-month contract role focused on SQL migration, validation, backups, and recovery processes.

You will work with SQL Server environments (2008–2019) and an Oracle footprint, performing incident response, daily maintenance, and documentation to ensure data integrity and performance during and after migration.

Qualifications

• 5 years of production database administration experience.
• Strong SQL Server knowledge (2008–2019).
• Experience with backup/recovery and monitoring of production databases.
• Experience communicating within a team and with customers.
• Security assessment and access review for database administration.

Description:

• Our client is actively looking for a Database Administrator 2 to assist with migrating existing databases from one hosted platform to a new hosted platform.
• Ideally, someone with knowledge of moving or migrating databases as well as systems validation after migration.
• Considerable working background in Microsoft SQL database administration.
• Architecture and troubleshooting in a working environment. Database administration and backup/recovery management.
• Working knowledge of backing up and restoring of production databases.
• The client’s SQL environment runs in a SQL Max platform hardware solution dedicated for SQL performance. The SQL version they are running ranges from 2008 - 2019.
• They also have a small Oracle footprint some experience in Oracle is great but the primary focus will be SQL.

Responsibilities:

• This role will fill day to daily break/fix incident response on our SQL environment.
• Other daily tasks may include utilized for running updates restore and recovery if
  or when required.
