The Opportunity

As a database administrator, you will perform back-up and recovery, analyze and resolve database system production problems, analyze user requirements and use cases, participate in database design and implementation, prepare system documentation, and support data analysis on application databases in a primarily AWS cloud environment. You’ll work with systems such as Oracle RDS, Oracle stand alone and pluggable databases, and Postgres RDS databases. At Booz Allen, you can use those skills to improve the database technology supporting the Army.

On our team, you will serve as a database subject matter expert on a small team supporting 50+ applications. In this role, you’ll closely impact your client with peace of mind as you implement policies and procedures to ensure the security and integrity of the database. You’ll use technology and tools to identify problem areas and opportunities for improvement in mission-critical databases. With your technical expertise, mentoring, and opportunities to learn new tools and skills, we’ll focus on growing as a team to make the best solutions for our customers.

Your responsibilities on the team will include customer support, IT strategic planning, working with vendor support, SQL and script writing, data conversions using various data formats, analyzing or debugging SQL scripts, learning and understanding application databases to support application operation and data extraction, provisioning database servers, and supporting overall IT department operations. You should be willing to take ownership of database-related technical matters and work independently while delivering quality results with little supervision.

You Have:

• 5+ years of experience with Oracle and PostgreSQL database administration and programming
• 2+ years of experience with AWS cloud technologies, including RDS, S3, and EC2
• Experience with UNIX or Linux system administration
• Knowledge of extracting and converting data to and from various database systems and data source types such as JSON and CSV
• Knowledge of data recovery models, continuity of operations, and disaster recovery concepts
• Knowledge of databases and cloud systems
• Ability towork within an Agile framework, including with Agile methodologies
• Ability to work with others, communicate effectively, and work in an organized manner
• Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
• Bachelor's degree

• Experience with database security or hardening, including with STIGs
• Knowledge of a dynamic workforce and understanding of flexible and ever-changing work requirements

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $86,800.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
