Job description

We are looking for a qualified MS SQL DBA (Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator) for managing and maintaining Microsoft SQL Server databases based on our company and client needs. Compensation is based on skills and experience. Only qualified candidates with relevant skills and experience will be considered. Candidate will need to pass a technical test to qualify for this position. This is a full time contract position with remote work from candidate's current location for a Dallas TX USA based company. Re‑location is not required for this job. This position requires to work at least for 4 hours during TSG business time (9:00 am to 5:00 pm Central Standard Time – CST). This requirement may eventually vary with the increased or decreased presence during TSG business hours depending on your productivity, knowledge, and skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Database Installation and Configuration: Setting up new SQL Server instances and configuring them according to organizational needs.
  • Security Management: Implementing and maintaining security measures to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access.
  • Performance Tuning: Optimizing database performance by analyzing queries, indexing, and other performance‑related aspects.
  • Backup and Recovery: Creating and managing backups of databases and implementing recovery plans in case of data loss or system failures.
  • Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving database‑related issues, including performance problems, errors, and connectivity issues.
  • Data Management: Ensuring data integrity, consistency, and availability.
  • Monitoring: Continuously monitoring the health and performance of SQL Server instances and databases.
  • Automation: Automating routine tasks using scripting languages like T‑SQL.
  • Working with other IT teams: Collaborating with developers, system administrators, and other teams to ensure smooth operation of applications and systems that rely on SQL Server.
  • Stay updated: Keeping up with the latest SQL Server versions, features, and best practices.
Skills and Knowledge Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or relevant field
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven work experience as a DBA
  • Strong understanding of SQL Server: Deep knowledge of SQL Server architecture, features, and functionalities.
  • Proficiency in SQL and T‑SQL: Ability to write and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures.
  • Knowledge of database design principles: Understanding how to design efficient and scalable database structures.
  • Experience with SSIS, SSAS, SSRS: Familiarity with SQL Server Integration Services, Analysis Services, and Reporting Services.
  • Knowledge of Azure SQL Database and cloud environments: Understanding of cloud‑based database solutions like Azure SQL Database.
  • Analytical and problem‑solving skills: Ability to diagnose and resolve complex database issues.
  • Communication and collaboration skills: Ability to effectively communicate with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
