Overview:

Nakupuna Consulting is seeking a Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA). The DBA will be responsible for all aspects of database management, including sustainment, optimization, disaster recovery, and documentation. The role requires developing an understanding of industry best practices, policies, standards, and controls aligned with database lifecycle management.

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform analysis and remediation of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
  2. Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade SQL Server databases across various environments.
  3. Monitor and optimize database performance, query tuning, and storage management.
  4. Develop backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
  5. Manage database security, user access, permissions, and auditing.
  6. Proactively monitor database health using tools and scripts.
  7. Develop automation processes for database operations.
  8. Collaborate with stakeholders to design and optimize database solutions.
  9. Create and maintain documentation for configurations, processes, and procedures.
  10. Plan and execute upgrades, migrations, and patches.

Qualifications:

Skills/Qualifications: Strong analytical, technical communication, and problem-solving skills. Experience with relational and non-relational databases, data manipulation, and visualization, especially within an AWS environment. Ability to write complex queries.

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a technical field and at least two years of relevant experience. Equivalent military or work experience may be considered.

Certifications:

  • Required: Active IAT II Certification (e.g., CCNA Security, CSA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP).
  • Preferred: Microsoft SQL Server or AWS certifications.

Security Clearance: At least SECRET level clearance; U.S. citizen required.

Work Location: Remote, supporting Hawaii Standard Time hours. On-site work at least four days a week may be preferred. Travel may be required.

Physical Requirements: Ability to perform repetitive motions, follow audible communications, sit for prolonged periods, with or without accommodations.

Compensation: $97,000 - $130,000 annually, based on experience and other factors.
