Job summary

Vaco LLC is seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator to manage enterprise Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server environments. You will ensure performance, security, and availability, collaborating with infrastructure and security teams to implement long-term database strategies aligned with business goals.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s in IT/CS, Oracle certs, 7+ years Oracle DB admin, 3+ years SQL Server, and strong backup, licensing, and troubleshooting skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT or CS or equivalent experience.
• Oracle Certified Administrator certification required; Oracle Certified Professional preferred.
• Minimum seven years of Oracle database administration experience.
• At least three years managing Microsoft SQL Server environments.
• Strong backup and recovery using RMAN and MSSQL backups.
• Familiarity with Linux, KVM, and virtualization technologies.
• Understanding of Oracle and Microsoft licensing requirements.
• Excellent troubleshooting, project management, communication, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and upgrade Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases to ensure performance and security.
• Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions.
• Develop, test, and execute backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Manage database security, user access, and ensure compliance with standards.
• Collaborate with systems and security teams to support new technology initiatives, address vulnerabilities, and manage patches.
• Enforce database policies, procedures, and change control processes, including licensing compliance.
• Support development and QA environments, including database refreshes and testing.
• Provide technical guidance and serve as SME for database initiatives.
• Work with IT leadership to develop strategic plans for future growth and technology adoption.

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator to join our team at Vaco LLC. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for managing and supporting enterprise Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server environments. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or have an equivalent combination of education and professional experience. Certification as an Oracle Certified Administrator is required, with Oracle Certified Professional certification preferred. Candidates should have a minimum of seven years of experience in Oracle database administration and at least three years of experience managing Microsoft SQL Server environments. Strong proficiency with database backup and recovery tools such as RMAN and MSSQL backup solutions is essential. Familiarity with Linux, KVM, and virtualization technologies is also required. A solid understanding of Oracle and Microsoft licensing requirements, along with excellent troubleshooting, project management, communication, and documentation skills, will ensure success in this role.

Providing technical guidance and serving as a subject matter expert for database initiatives will help foster a knowledgeable team environment. Additionally, you will work with IT leadership to develop strategic plans that support future business growth and technological advancements.
