Job summary

SEON is seeking a Database Administrator to operate and scale our database platforms as our data grows. You’ll work across PostgreSQL on AWS RDS, ClickHouse, and YugabyteDB to keep systems reliable, scalable, observable, secure, and cost-efficient.

Based in Budapest with a hybrid schedule, you’ll design architectures, optimize data structures, support development teams, and participate in 24/7 on-call duty while mentoring colleagues to use database resources efficiently.

Qualifications

• Experience with TB-scale databases (PostgreSQL preferred).
• Cloud database management on AWS/Azure/GCP.
• Strong troubleshooting and maintenance skills.
• Fluent English required.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a Database Administrator to help us operate and scale SEON's database platforms as our products and data grow. You'll work across multiple database technologies — including PostgreSQL on AWS RDS, ClickHouse, and YugabyteDB — supporting a variety of workloads and use cases. Your focus will be keeping our database platforms reliable, scalable, observable, secure, and cost-efficient.

This role offers flexibility and will be based in Budapest with a hybrid schedule.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

• Operate, scale , maintain, and improve database platforms handling terabytes of data. Troubleshoot database functionality issues.
• Design scalable and reliable database architectures for different workloads and availability requirements
• Support, monitor and maintain databases with TBs of data: PostgreSQL on AWS RDS, Clickhouse, Yugabyte
• Troubleshoot query performance issues related to our applications on large datasets
• Optimize data structure and manage structural changes, migration processes
• Lend support to development teams as necessary during design, development and delivery to ensure solid, scalable, robust solutions
• Accurately assess the risks associated with each solution design
• Participating in 24/7 on-call duty as part of the team
• Support the development of team members in order to use our database resources efficiently

WHAT YOU’ll BRING:

• Strong design and administrative experience with large (TBs of data) databases (primarily Postgres, but other databases also acceptable: Oracle, Aurora, DB2, etc)
• Experience with database management at least one leading cloud service provider (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc).
• Thorough working knowledge of the design and database development processes, methodologies
• Strong database setup, configuration, maintenance/support, troubleshooting skills, and experience with different database engines
• Base knowledge about Terraform managed Databases
• Fluent English
