Job Title: Database Administrator (DBA)

Reports To: Director of Software Development

FLSA Status: Exempt – Full Time

Salary Range: $90,000 - $125,000 per year

Location: Remote (CST Preferred)

Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Software Development, this position is responsible for data storage, management, security, integration, optimization, analysis & reporting. The DBA will play an important role on the Technology Team supporting the company's growth by working closely with Finance, Restaurant Operations, and Marketing to ensure accurate data is flowing and being reported upon.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the health and performance of Microsoft SQL Server databases.
  • Perform routine database maintenance tasks such as backups, restores, and integrity checks.
  • Assist in setting up and managing user access, roles, and permissions.
  • Troubleshoot basic database issues and escalate more complex problems as needed.
  • Support database security practices by monitoring access and following company policies.
  • Help optimize database performance by identifying and suggesting improvements (e.g., missing indexes, slow queries).
  • Maintain documentation of database processes, configurations, and procedures.
  • Assist with database deployments, updates, and patches following change management processes.
  • Participate in data recovery testing to ensure backup procedures are reliable.
  • Collaborate with developers and senior DBAs to support application database needs.
  • Learn and assist with basic Snowflake database tasks as opportunities arise.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
  • Sitting / standing 6-8 hours.
  • Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field – or - 3-5 years of experience working with Microsoft SQL Server databases.
  • Basic understanding of database concepts like tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, and triggers.
  • Familiarity with SQL querying, including writing and troubleshooting basic SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE statements.
  • Knowledge of database backup, restore, and recovery fundamentals.
  • Understanding of user access controls, roles, and permissions in SQL Server.
  • Familiarity with basic database performance concepts (e.g., indexes, query optimization).
  • Experience with monitoring and basic troubleshooting of SQL Server databases (e.g., checking logs, running basic diagnostics).
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Exposure to Snowflake is a plus (basic understanding of Snowflake concepts like warehouses, databases, and roles).
  • Familiarity with data migration or ETL tools.
  • Familiarity with cloud database environments (Azure SQL, AWS RDS).
  • Understanding of database monitoring tools (e.g., SQL Server Management Studio reports, third-party monitoring solutions).
  • Experience with documentation in Confluence and version control with Git.
