T he DB2 and Oracle Team manages FTB’s enterprise-scale databases—busy, mission-critical systems that keep the Franchise Tax Board’s departments running smoothly. We focus on stability, performance, and thoughtful modernization, from monitoring and tuning to major platform migrations. We’re looking for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, learning through documentation and safe testing, and working with tools like SQL, Linux, and vendor guides to understand new environments without risking production.

If you’ve worked with DB2 or other relational databases, can troubleshoot issues using logs and metrics, and communicate clearly with teammates, you’ll feel right at home here. An interest in automation or building repeatable workflows is also helpful, as our team increasingly looks for ways to streamline deployment and maintenance processes. We appreciate people who document their work, elevate appropriately, and help foster an inclusive team culture. It’s a great role for someone early in their DBA path who wants hands‑on experience with large systems—and a team that values learning, collaboration, and doing things the right way.
