Job summary

Ouzinkie Native Corporation is seeking a Database Administrator to provide technical support for maintenance information and inventory management system databases. You will oversee database development, assess new technologies, and align database strategy with business opportunities.

You will collaborate with Operations to create an environment that meets current and future objectives while ensuring security and performance across the database landscape.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years IT operation experience with strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
  • 3–5 years of MySQL Server experience.
  • BE/BS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is strongly preferred; in lieu of a degree, relevant work experience may be substituted.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a security scheme for the database environment and assist in disaster recovery.
  • Assess database performance and identify problem areas.
  • Provide leadership during development and enhancement of production applications.
  • Develop tools and methodologies to assist in managing the databases.
  • Develop and guide the logical database design across development phases.
  • Maintain reporting and storage functions within the current database.
  • Work with vendors to evaluate and implement database updates.
  • Maintain regular attendance and perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

SUMMARY

Responsible for providing technical support for maintenance information and inventory management system database. Oversee development and organization of the databases, assess and implement new technologies, and provide long-term perspectives on the relationship of database technology to business opportunities. Assist Operations to achieve an environment that meets current/future objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop a security scheme for the database environment, as well as assist in disaster recovery if necessary.
  • Develop a methodology for ongoing assessment of database performance and the identification of problem areas
  • Provide leadership during the development and enhancement of production applications including working with applications, technical support and operations during the design, development and implementation of applications.
  • Develop tools and methodologies to assist in the management of the databases.
  • Develop and/or assist in developing the logical database area and provides technical guidance during all phases of the development process.
  • Develop and maintain reporting and storage functions within the current database
  • Work with vendors in evaluating and implementing new database updates when needed.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

None.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • BE/BS degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field is strongly preferred. In lieu of a degree, relevant work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis
  • Understanding of and experience with server-client computing and relational database environments.
  • Two (2) to three (3) years of IT operation experience with strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of MySQL Server experience.
  • Experience with data management and data processing flowcharting techniques.
  • T-SQL as the current setup has a metric ton of Views.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test.
  • Must be able to pass a Federal Background check.
  • May be required to obtain and maintain a valid security clearance (generally, U.S. citizenship required).
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
  • Knowledge of reporting and query tools and practices.
  • Ability to develop technical documentation for processes, products, etc.
  • Proven experience in successfully managing multiple timelines and deadlines.
  • Confidential data and information management experience required.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with employees and management team, good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform diverse duties under operating and deadline constraints.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; monitors own work to ensure quality.
WORK SCHEDULE

Full-time. May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete assignment or project.

TRAVEL

The expected travel time is less than 25%.

DRIVING REQUIREMENTS

Must have or be able to attain a valid state driver’s license and be insurable on the company’s automobile insurance policy. Driving, with or without accommodation, may be required when traveling for training and/or short occasional amounts of local driving. The expected driving time is less than 25%.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The majority of work is performed in a professional office setting and in some offsite locations during project transitioning with a wide variety of people in different functions, personalities and abilities. Employee may be exposed to sharp objects and may be exposed to some heat, loud noise, chemicals, lead and vibration. Katmai strictly adheres to the Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHA) regulations. Use of personal protective equipment is mandatory if applicable. Employee will be exposed to a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities and abilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Frequent sitting, using hands/fingers, handling, reaching with hands and arms, talking, hearing and seeing up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth perception and the ability to adjust focus; occasional walking or standing, occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Compensation & Benefits:
  • Pay: $80,000 to $95,000 annually
  • Eligible Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life & AD&D Insurance, Long-Term & Short-Term Disability Insurance, 401(k) Savings Plan, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Vacation & Paid Personal Time, 11 Paid Federal Holidays, and Leave of Absence.
