Job summary

Miami University is seeking a Data and Web Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data infrastructure, analytics, and web solutions that support marketing and recruitment goals. The role focuses on data pipelines, governance, and reporting across multiple platforms.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver dashboards, analytics, and data-driven insights while ensuring compliance with FERPA and data stewardship standards.

Qualifications

• Write complex SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and validate data from multiple sources before analysis and visualization.
• Use scripting languages (Python or R) for advanced analytics, data manipulation, and automation.
• Create and manage database environments (AWS Redshift or comparable data warehouse).
• Build scalable ETL/ELT processes and design efficient data models.

Responsibilities

• Write complex SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and validate data from multiple sources before analysis and visualization.
• Create and manage database environments (AWS Redshift or comparable data warehouse).
• Design efficient data models, transform data across systems, and build scalable ETL/ELT processes (Adverity or similar ETL tools).
• Ensure adherence to university data governance policies and privacy regulations (FERPA).
• Develop advanced Tableau calculations and dashboards, publish to Tableau Server/Cloud, and manage content with permissions and automated refreshes.
• Structure and cleanse data for analysis using Tableau PrepBuilder or equivalent tooling.
• Build interactive dashboards with strong UX using filters, parameters, and actions.
• Apply statistical methods and data analysis to uncover trends, insights, and business opportunities.
• Use scripting languages (Python or R) for advanced analytics, data manipulation, and automation.
• Build, maintain, and extend web assets using JavaScript for WordPress or headless CMS frameworks.
• Integrate CRM systems with internal data platforms to support analytics and business processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and document solutions.
