Job description

SUMMARY

The Data/Wearables Manager is a grant funded positions for developing and managing the RHTP grant's wearable device strategy and the data systems that support it, including procurement, distribution, and use of devices to drive real-time participant engagement, behavior change, and data collection. This position ensures data security and integration across program, evaluation, and reporting systems. The Manager reports to the Evaluation Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES, ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & KEY DELIVERABLES

Wearable Device Strategy

• Develop and oversee deployment of the grant's wearable device strategy, including procurement, distribution, and ongoing support.
• Manage relationships with device vendors, ensuring cost-effective procurement and responsive technical support.
• Establish protocols for device distribution, participant onboarding, troubleshooting, and device return/reuse.

Data Collection & Systems Management

• Oversee data collection systems that support real-time participant engagement and behavior-change tracking from wearable devices.
• Ensure data security, privacy, and compliance with grant and YMCA data-handling requirements.
• Maintain integration between wearable-generated data and the grant's broader data collection and reporting systems.

Collaboration & Reporting

• Partner with the Evaluation Manager to ensure wearable-generated data supports outcome monitoring and grant reporting.
• Train local Y staff and the Community Integrated Health Manager/coordinators on device distribution and troubleshooting.
• Perform other duties/assignments as needed at the Indiana Alliance of YMCAs

QUALIFICATIONS

• BA/BS in Public Health, Health Informatics, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field required.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience with wearable or health technology, health data systems, or digital health program management.
• Experience with data collection platforms, device management systems, and data privacy/security practices; familiarity with HIPAA preferred.
• Strong technical troubleshooting and vendor management skills.
• Comfortable training staff and participants on device use across in-person and virtual, rural settings.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable working within data collection and reporting systems.
• Completion of all position-specific and mandatory YMCA training within specified deadlines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, climb stairs, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

This position requires frequent statewide travel, including to rural communities, partner sites, and program events across Indiana, sometimes requiring overnight travel. The noise level in the office work environment is typical of a normal office; noise levels during site visits may be moderate to occasionally loud.
