Job summary

Chandra Technologies, Inc. is seeking an experienced Data Warehouse/ETL professional in Lansing, MI for a hybrid role. You will manage complex batch frameworks, data integration, and security across DW environments, collaborating with vendors and internal teams.

The role requires strong English communication, independent work capability, and 3+ years of Teradata experience. You will contribute to data quality, governance, and architecture while supporting upgrades and disaster recovery planning.

Responsibilities

• Own and optimize the Common Batch Framework and Common Scheduler for data reliability.
• Manage Data Warehouse change management, code promotions, and DDL promotions.
• Maintain Linux security model on DW ETL servers and ensure proper access controls.
• Oversee Teradata security and access, conduct data architecture reviews and audits.
• Create and maintain documentation of data architecture, processes, and solutions.
• Provide escalation support for Data Warehouse issues and troubleshoot effectively.
• Evaluate new data technologies to improve performance and scalability.
• Ensure data quality and effective use of enterprise data assets.
• Manage data integration processes and ETL workflows across systems.
• Collaborate with vendors and service providers as needed.

Location Requirement: Hybrid work schedule (non-negotiable): Position will be hybrid, in office 2 days a week upon start. Wednesdays and Thursdays are required on-site days and cannot be altered

Open to candidates local to the Lansing, Michigan area or those willing to relocate from DAY ONE at their OWN EXPENSE (non-negotiable). Candidates that relocate MUST still come on-site for the in-person interview.

Job Responsibilities

Candidates MUST meet all these requirements from the Beginning

• Responsible for complex Common Batch Framework and Common Scheduler to ensure current and reliable data is available for critical business processes and decision making.
• Responsible for Data Warehouse change management infrastructure and all promotions of code and ddl; performing build engineer tasks for both manual and automated promotion processes.
• Responsibility for complex Linux security model on DW ETL servers. (Servers are administered by another group, but our team is responsible for the security structure and authorizes user access to the groups and sudos)
• Responsibility for Teradata security and access.
• Conduct data architecture reviews and audits to ensure alignment with enterprise standards
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of data architecture, processes, and solutions
• Responsible for providing support for escalated Data Warehouse issue troubleshooting and resolution.
• Evaluate and recommend new data technologies and tools to improve performance and scalability
• Ensure data quality, accuracy, and effective use of enterprise data assets
• Manage and support data integration processes, including ETL workflows across multiple systems
• Collaborate with external vendors and third-party service providers as needed
• Support patch management, system upgrades, and ongoing system maintenance
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot technical issues across data platforms
• Perform data profiling and implement data quality rules for assessment and validation
• Execute data cleansing and standardization using both built-in and custom data rules
• Develop and maintain disaster recovery and backup strategies for data systems
• Lead efforts to migrate data warehouse processes to standardized/common frameworks
• Conduct elevated access reviews and user audits to ensure compliance
• Identify and remediate audit findings related to data systems and security

Required Qualifications

• EXTREMELY IMPORTANT) Strong communication skills in English with the ability to translate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Candidates who cannot communicate effectively in English will not be considered.
• Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Must be able to work independently when needed.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills, particularly in troubleshooting complex data and system issues
• 3+ years Teradata experience

Most Preferred Qualifications

• Previous government experience or State of Michigan experience is a plus but not required.
• Experience with cloud-based BI tools

Other Desired Skills

• Experience supporting the loading of data from multiple source systems
• Ability to provide targeted training and technical guidance to development teams for troubleshooting and batch support
• Minimum of 2 years of Linux experience
• Strong decision-making skills with the ability to determine appropriate solutions while adhering to SoM and MDHHS/DTMB policies

Additional Notes

• Team Environment: The team currently consists of 2 State employees and 6 long-term contractors. It’s a collaborative and well-established group that is looking for an additional resource who can step in and contribute immediately.
• Work: Most work comes through one of the MDHHS Data Warehouse development teams. This role will work closely with developers, leadership, stakeholders, and various SOM and vendor staff on a day-to-day basis.

The scope is the MDHHS Data Warehouse project, which consists of Child Support, Child Welfare, Eligibility, and Health Services programs.
