Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of technical support experience with an RDBMS.
  • Experience with MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or SQLite.
  • Bachelor's degree in CS, IS, or a related field.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to support both technical and non-technical users.
  • Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to document processes clearly and accurately.
  • Detail-oriented with multi-priority and deadline management.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary support for the company’s SQL-based RDBMS.
  • Troubleshoot functional, performance, and UI issues for internal users.
  • Maintain data integrity, accuracy, and system reliability.
  • Implement and support configuration changes as business needs grow.
  • Log and manage support requests using Jira or similar tools.
  • Test updates, patches, and releases before production.
  • Maintain vendor relationships and follow up on issues.
  • Develop knowledge of database tables, fields, and workflows.
  • Create system documentation and end-user training materials.
  • Train users and support system adoption across departments.
  • Manage user access, roles, and credentials.
  • Monitor system logs for usage, audits, and changes.
  • Maintain sandbox environments and refresh cycles.
  • Maintain backups and recovery readiness.
  • Collaborate across ops, shipping, customer service, and sales to improve workflows.
  • Communicate issues, enhancements, and priorities to the manager.
  • Support multiple locations including remote or occasional on-site travel.

Job Title: Data Support Specialist

Location: Chatsworth or Cypress, CA (hybrid, mandatory in-person training)

Job Type: Full-time, Monday-Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm

Pay rate: $70,000- 80,000 (DOE)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Database Support Specialist reporting to the Technology Program Manager and serving as the primary point of contact for day-to-day support of the company’s database system, which supports lab operations, shipping & receiving, customer service, and sales.

This role is best suited for someone who thrives in a support-focused environment and enjoys troubleshooting, documentation, and workflow improvement. The environment is highly customized and training will be provided Experience working with relational database systems is helpful for understanding the technical environment and workflows this role supports

Requirements and Skills:
