Job summary

Members First Credit Union is seeking a Data Strategist I to design impactful Tableau dashboards, uncover meaningful insights, and help drive strategic decisions. You will leverage SQL and Snowflake to transform data into compelling stories that create business value, with Tableau certification highly valued.

The role reports to the Data Intelligence Leader and involves travel to Michigan locations for quarterly team meetings.

Qualifications

  • One to three years similar or related experience in data strategy.
  • A bachelor's degree, or achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Data, Business Intelligence, Statistics or related fields.
  • Excellent analytical skills to conduct thorough research to offer market insights. Ability to provide workable recommendations and solutions to problems.
  • Technical knowledge and experience in SQL, Tableau, and Snowflake required.
  • Ability to perform analytics within credit union data software.
  • Ability to use email, presentation software, and Microsoft word and excel are required.

  • Operates as cross functional team member collaborating with peers and winning as a team

  • Create and present reporting and insights through narrative-driven presentations and/or effective data visualizations to department leaders to achieve business initiatives.
  • Fulfills data requests, looking for synergy between requests and usefulness to more than just the person/department requesting
  • Supports data system solutions, troubleshoots issues, and resolves incidents while communicating with end user.
  • Successfully obtain Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor (CCUFC) designation through America's Credit Unions within first year of service with M1.

DATA STRATEGIST I

Reports to: Data Intelligence Leader

The primary purpose of this position is to assist Members First Credit Union to deliver on its mission, vision, and brand promise. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver on the Credit Union’ Service Promises in every service situation.
  • Develop a plan to analyze and enhance product lines in alignment with organizational strategy.
  • Collaborate with the management team on special projects in relation to strategic initiatives.
  • Analyze all branches to create programs/initiatives that drive deposit and loan growth within the branches.
  • Travel to our Michigan locations on average once per quarter for team meetings, with travel dates mandatory during summits.
  • Ensure continued education to maintain and demonstrate knowledge of credit union operations, industry trends, and technologies related to analytics, statistics and reporting.
  • Maintain technical knowledge in all required systems including SQL, Tableau, and Snowflake by completing educational opportunities, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve member and internal inquiries in a timely, accurate manner. Provide informed, professional, accurate service and support to all members and teammates.
  • Responsible for being knowledgeable of member experience trends, market potential, and generational segment behaviors to ensure a solid future-thinking strategy.
  • Promotes a culture of excellence, data-driven discussions, healthy skepticism, intellectual curiosity, knowledge-sharing, and teamwork.

  • Effectively apply and maintain financial counseling concepts, gained through America's Credit Unions' Financial Counseling Certification Program (FiCEP), to promote financial well-being.
