Data Specialist & Project Manager - Golf and Turf Division

Base pay range

$60,000.00/yr - $75,000.00/yr

General objective of the role

Support the development of Ecorobotix’s turfgrass care through data preparation and quality control of turf imagery and environmental data for AI model training and validation. This role will be responsible for preparing complex turfgrass datasets, scoring datasets for data preparation difficulty, performing quality control checks on pre-labeled imagery, as well as creating and managing documentation for the labeling of turfgrass imagery by external annotators. The Turf Data Specialist & Project Manager will become subject matter experts for various turfgrass models and will come in with expertise in turfgrass management systems (e.g. sod production, golf course management, athletic field management, lawn care). Quality control and data analysis will take 50% of their time, and the other 50% will be managing current and future model projects.

Reporting lines and interactions

Reports to the Turf Data Team Manager, Turf Division. The Turf Data Specialist & Project Manager will collaborate with the Turf Data Collection team members in the United States and Europe as well as with the AI and Crop Vision Team to ensure data quality standards and data preparation quantity goals. Externally, this role will interact with third-party data preparers to achieve data quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and prepare turfgrass images for quality and accuracy.
• Perform quality control visual inspections to ensure data quality standards before annotation and before model training.
• Maintain labeling records and database organization for current and future models
• Coordinate with Turf Data Collection Team to data variety, quantity and quality goals are being met.
• Support documentation of labeling standards and improvements for current and future models.
• Assist with adjusting methods to improve turf data preparation and quality control work flow to meet business needs.
• Assist with analysis of future turfgrass model data needs
• Participate in guiding turf data needs for different turfgrass management systems and species

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Turfgrass science, Agronomy or related field.
• 4+ years in turfgrass management systems (e.g. golf course management, sod production, sports turfgrass facilities, lawn care)
• 2+ years of experience in field research project management and data quality control
• Strong visual acuity and attention to detail.
• Strong interest in precision turfgrass management, turfgrass pest management and technology
• Knowledge of IT Tools (internal software tools, smartphones) to manage communications and necessary data

Experience / Skills

• Experience with annotation tools (Labelbox, CVAT, etc.).
• Ability to work in an office environment with small teams.

• Preferred experience in turfgrass agronomics (i.e. weeds, diseases, golf or sports turf management)
• Preferred to have 2+ years of experience in image labeling or data quality control in turfgrass systems
• Interest in precision turfgrass management, turfgrass sustainability and or technology in the turfgrass industry
