Job Description:

Deliver insights to help our clients turn data into action as a Data Scientist at GDIT. Your work will provide transformative solutions to our clients’ big-data obstacles and help advance the mission. Here, you can make a meaningful impact on our clients’ mission and on your career.

As a Data Scientist, you will help ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter. Our work depends on you to utilize analytical, statistical, and programming skills to collect, analyze, and interpret large data sets, find opportunities for product and process optimization, and test the effectiveness of different courses of action. You will mine and analyze the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) data, use a variety of data tools, build and implement models, use/create algorithms, and create/run simulations. You will assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques, driving business results with data-based insights. Work visa sponsorship will not be provided for this role.

In this role, a typical day will include:

  1. Performing scientific work associated with analytical, statistical, and programming skills to collect, analyze, and interpret large data sets.
  2. Developing data-driven solutions to difficult business challenges.
  3. Assisting with identifying opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions.
  4. Developing processes and machine learning based tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.
  5. Interpreting data and preparing reports on analyses, findings, and project progress, and presenting results to management and/or customers/stakeholders.
  6. Managing and monitoring the integrity of data ensuring quality, accuracy, and timely delivery of contract requirements.
  7. Planning, developing, testing, and documenting highly complex applications programs.
  8. Conferring with end-users to analyze specified methods and procedures, identify problems, and document specific requirements.
  9. Providing input to staff involved in writing and updating technical documentation such as user manuals, product specifications, and training materials.
  10. Performing a variety of testing procedures on assigned products, analyzing test results, and correcting problems.
  11. Using predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, efficiencies, process improvements, and other business outcomes.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or higher
  2. 5+ years of related data experience
  3. Experience working at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)
  4. Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures of data analysis
  5. Information visualization experience, turning data into professionally designed dashboards with meaningful insights
  6. Ability to translate business requirements into non-technical, lay terms
  7. Candidate must have lived in the United States at least three (3) out of the last five (5) years.
  8. Candidate must be able to obtain Public Trust clearance.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  1. Experience using Tableau Creator
  2. Experience with Python scripting
  3. Salesforce and Salesforce Visual Force experience
  4. High-level experience in methodologies and processes for managing large scale databases
  5. Experience working in an Agile environment
  6. Experience working with JIRA, Confluence, and SharePoint
  7. Ability to manage time effectively, work under time pressure, meet schedules and deadlines, multi-task, plan, organize, and prioritize work assignments while paying close attention to detail

The likely salary range for this position is $115,786 - $156,652. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Salary will be set based on experience, geographic location, and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.

Paid leave and paid holidays are prorated based on the employee’s date of hire. The GDIT Paid Family Leave program provides a total of up to 160 hours of paid leave in a rolling 12 month period for eligible employees.
