Job summary

The State of Connecticut's Office of Correction Ombudsman, within the Office of Government Accountability (OGA), is seeking a Data Scientist in Hartford to support oversight through research, data collection and analysis, and development of performance measures.

You will collect and analyze data from the Department of Correction, complaint records, surveys, and other sources, develop databases and dashboards, and present findings for reports, hearings, and publications.

Qualifications

• Seven (7) years of professional experience in data analytics, quantitative methods, or GIS.
• Experience substituting education for experience as outlined (Bachelor’s/Master’s substitutions).
• Ability to design and conduct research, collect data, and prepare reports for executive audiences.

Responsibilities

• Applies statistical and data management principles to datasets and projects.
• Designs and develops data-driven projects and translates business problems into analytic projects.
• Prepares dashboards, reports, and visualizations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Develops performance measures and methodologies for evaluating programs and policies.
• Assists with surveys and research instruments used to obtain information from stakeholders.
