Mortenson is seeking a Data Scientist to model complex business problems and uncover insights using statistical, algorithmic, mining, and visualization techniques to drive performance and foster a data-driven culture in an analytics-driven industry.

The position requires 1–4 years of experience, a bachelor's in statistics/data science, and proficiency in SQL, Python, and R, with experience in Fabric and Power BI. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in statistics, applied mathematics, data science, data analytics, or related discipline; graduate degree preferred
• Proficiency with data mining, predictive modeling, and statistical analysis
• Full proficiency in SQL, Python, R, or similar coding languages and platforms

Responsibilities

• Understand the assigned business challenge and develop a plan to identify, obtain, and analyze the necessary data to drive improved business performance
• Extract information from internal systems, industry reports, public information, field reports, and other data sources to identify statistical relationships and translate them into internal, operational insights
• Conduct statistical analyses, randomized controlled trials, and predictive modeling
• Apply and integrate statistical, mathematical, and predictive modeling to manage and manipulate complex high-volume data from a variety of sources
• Develop, analyze, and model operational, economic, management, and other organizational data
• Quantify the competitive performance of business segments
• Evaluate potential operational changes
• Design new approaches and methodologies, ideally using AI & ML algorithms when appropriate
• Review program data consistently to provide corrective action when necessary, based on information collected and current trends to maximize business performance
• Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
• All other duties as assigned
