Job summary

Lyft is seeking a Data Scientist for the Mapping team to improve route quality and the accuracy of travel time estimates. You will collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to build a best‑in‑class mapping product that supports safe, efficient navigation for rideshare drivers.

Responsibilities include designing online experiments, developing analytic frameworks, and defining metrics to monitor product health and rider/driver experience.

Qualifications

• Degree in a quantitative field or relevant work experience.
• 1+ years in a data science or analytics role.
• Proficiency in SQL and ability to write structured queries on large datasets.
• End-to-end data work: querying, aggregation, analysis, and visualization.
• Experience in programming with Python or R and ML libraries.
• Experience with online experimentation and communicating results to stakeholders.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with ML techniques is a plus (e.g., reinforcement learning).

Responsibilities

• Leverage data and analytic frameworks to identify opportunities for growth and efficiency.
• Partner with PMs, engineers and operators to translate insights into decisions and actions.
• Design and analyze online experiments; communicate results and influence launch decisions.
• Develop analytic frameworks to monitor product performance.
• Establish metrics to measure health of products and rider/driver experience.
• Identify and drive impact, shaping product and business strategy.
