Job summary

Portage Learning is seeking a Data Scientist Intern for a summer, full-time position based in Chippewa Township, PA. You will work with the Data Science team to analyze data, build models, and create actionable insights for stakeholders.

You will contribute to data preparation, EDA, model development, evaluation, and visualization, while collaborating with Engineering and other departments. Scheduling is Monday–Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with support for learning and career growth.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in data science, computer science, business analysis, statistics, or related field.
• Coursework or project experience involving Python, SQL, statistics, data analysis, or machine learning.
• Experience working with datasets through coursework, personal projects, research, internships, or other relevant activities.
• Successful completion of a background check and ability to obtain required clearances.

Responsibilities

• Assist Data Scientists with collecting, cleaning, transforming, and validating data for analysis and modeling.
• Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) to identify patterns and data quality issues.
• Apply statistical methods to investigate business questions and support data-driven decisions.
• Assist with developing, testing, and evaluating machine learning models using regression, classification, and clustering.
• Write and maintain Python and SQL code for data extraction, transformation, analysis, and modeling.
