Job summary

Pinterest is seeking a Data Scientist for the Infrastructure Data Science team. You will partner with engineering and cross-functional teams to make infrastructure more measurable, intelligible, and actionable, spanning performance, shopping infrastructure, and site reliability.

You’ll help build data foundations, measurement systems, and analytical frameworks to optimize core systems and inform product and platform decisions, while communicating findings clearly to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Statistics, Applied Math, Biostatistics, or equivalent.
• Strong SQL and analytical programming skills.
• Experience building production-ready data pipelines and metrics.
• Strong experimentation and measurement foundation; able to design analyses.
• Ability to translate ambiguous problems into actionable analyses.
• Excellent cross-functional communication with engineering, product, and platform partners.
• Ability to work independently and manage long- and short-term priorities.

Responsibilities

• Partner with engineering to define, measure, and improve infrastructure health and efficiency.
• Build and refine metrics, dashboards, and analytical frameworks.
• Improve data quality by auditing metrics and data pipelines.
• Design experiments and deep dives to quantify impact on reliability and user experience.
• Translate complex problems into clear analyses and recommendations.
• Support high-priority investigations related to performance, costs, and measurement quality.
• Identify opportunities to scale measurement foundations across domains.
