Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a world leader in cloud infrastructure. The AWS Managed Operations (MO) organization was founded in April 2023 to reduce operational load through engineering projects. The Managed Operations Intelligence (MOI) Team seeks a Data Scientist to lead research and data‑insight strategy across AWS regions, owning the end‑to‑end data science lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with large and complex data sets to solve a wide array of challenging problems using analytical approaches.
- Develop ML/AI models and partner with software teams to productionalize them.
- Design and implement data pipelines and infrastructure.
- Define and develop advanced metrics and KPIs, continuously monitoring performance.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of data scientist experience.
- 3+ years of data querying (SQL), scripting (Python) or statistical software (R, SAS, Matlab).
- 3+ years of machine‑learning/statistical‑modeling data‑analysis tools and techniques.
- Knowledge of statistical measures such as confidence intervals and error metrics.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, machine learning or related field, or Master’s degree with 4+ years of data‑scientist experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- 6+ years of data scientist experience.
- 4+ years of machine learning, statistical modeling, data mining, and analytics techniques.
- Experience with data scripting languages (SQL, Python, R) or statistical software (R, SAS, Matlab).
- Experience with clustered data processing (Hadoop, Spark, Map‑reduce, Hive).
- Experience in a ML or data‑scientist role at a large technology company.

Salary range: $136,000.00 – $184,000.00 per year (USA, VA, Arlington). The compensation package includes sign‑on payments, restricted stock units, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
