Job summary

Centene Corporation is seeking a skilled data scientist who will lead advanced analytics initiatives across healthcare datasets. The role focuses on building predictive models and scalable ML workflows to drive better health outcomes.

You will collaborate with analytics engineers, validate models, monitor performance, and communicate insights to business partners. A strong foundation in statistics, programming, and cloud analytics is essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Informatics, Econometrics, Engineering, or related field with 3+ years of experience.
• Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of quantitative analysis experience in data science capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy predictive models and ML solutions using structured and unstructured data.
• Partner with Analytics Engineers to build scalable data pipelines, ML workflows, and production-ready solutions.
• Provide technical oversight for model development, validation, monitoring, and governance.
• Design and construct analysis tools that extract and analyze data and store results for business needs.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis from complex data sources and build key data sets.
• Evaluate and design experiments to monitor key metrics and identify improvements.
• Develop mathematical and statistical models to distinguish relevant content or events and recognize patterns.
• Present results and insights from analysis and findings.
• Design automated analytics processes to achieve scalable and durable analysis.
• Validate and measure outcomes of health management programs using SAS, R and other tools.
• Manage multiple projects as assigned.
• Assist with training Data Analysts.

Job description

Position Purpose:

Responsible for advanced and predictive data analytics using big data and data science technology for healthcare innovation and outcomes. Perform analysis using data science techniques on structured and unstructured data sets, and develop algorithms for targeted business needs.

• Design, develop, and deploy predictive models and machine learning solutions using structured and unstructured data.
• Partner with Analytics Engineers to build scalable data pipelines, machine learning workflows, and production-ready solutions.
• Provide technical oversight for model development, validation, monitoring, and governance.
• Design and construct analysis tools that extract, and analyze data and store analytical results in an appropriate format for business needs.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis from complex data sources and build key data sets to support Centene's mission.
• Evaluate and design experiments to monitor key metrics and identify improvement opportunities.
• Develop mathematical and statistical models to distinguish relevant content or events and recognize patterns.
• Participate in presentations and communicate results of analysis and findings.
• Participate in the design of automated, operational analytics processes to achieve scale and durability of analysis processes.
• Validate and measure the outcomes of health management programs using SAS, R and other tools, to include provider data, claims data, membership data.
• Manage multiple projects as assigned.
• Assist with training Data Analysts.

Highly Preferred Skills

• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and modern machine learning frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with Databricks and Snowflake for data preparation, model development, and deployment.
• Familiarity with MLOps practices, model monitoring, and cloud-based analytics environments.
• Experience providing technical direction to Data Scientists and Analytics Engineers.
• Healthcare, payer, or population health analytics experience.

Knowledge/Experience:

Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Informatics, Econometrics, Engineering, Experimental Science with 3+ years of experience or Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of quantitative analysis experience in data science capabilities including data mining, predictive modeling, machine learning, statistical modeling, large scale data acquisition, transformation, and structured and unstructured data analysis. Experience with database technologies, including Teradata and Snowflake

Pay Range: $87,700.00 - $157,800.00 per year
