Job summary

Hoffman Construction Company is seeking an entry-level Data Scientist to analyze large construction datasets and derive actionable insights. You will use Python/R for modeling, and Power BI for visualization, supporting project teams and executives.

You will build dashboards, perform EDA, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver data-driven solutions while documenting methodologies and staying current with new tools. This is an in-person role based in Portland, OR.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a data-related field or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of professional data analysis and BI reporting experience (preferred).
• Proficiency in Python or R and SQL; experience with EDA, feature engineering, model building and reporting.
• Experience with data visualization tools (Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, Seaborn) and Power BI.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and Git is a plus.
• Strong communication and technical writing skills; ability to translate data to business insights.

Responsibilities

• Collect, clean, and organize structured and unstructured data.
• Perform exploratory data analysis to identify patterns and trends.
• Build and evaluate basic predictive models using ML algorithms.
• Create visualizations and dashboards to communicate insights.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver data-driven solutions.
• Document processes and stay updated on emerging DS tools and techniques.
• Develop semantic models in MS Fabric and Power BI for AI efforts.
• Create and enhance Power BI/Excel/Smartsheet reports and dashboards.
• Inspect data quality, rectify inconsistencies, and deliver regular reports to stakeholders.
